Fred Eychaner

Fred Eychaner (BSJ66) is a member of the inaugural class of the Medill Hall of Achievement of 1997.

Eychaner serves as chairman of publishing company Newsweb Corporation. He was named chairman of Chicago’s Joffrey Ballet in 2009 and in September 2010, he was named a general trustee, Board of Trustees, of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. In 2015, he was inducted into the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame.

Before starting his printing company full time, Eychaner held a variety of jobs in journalism including working as a part-time sports statistician at City News Bureau, a city hall reporter at the Evanston Review, a part-time reporter for the Highland Park News and part-time sports and general reporter for the DeKalb Daily Chronicle.
