Stephen Hunter

Stephen Hunter (BSJ68) is an author and former film critic who graduated from Medill in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree. Hunter wrote at the copy desk of the Baltimore Sun early on in his career, before moving on to The Washington Post. Hunter reviewed films for the Post and rose to the position of chief film critic at the paper.  It was while in this position that Hunter won the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for distinguished criticism. Hunter is the second film critic to be honored with the prize, which was also won in 1975 by the legendary film critic of the Chicago Sun-Times, Roger Ebert.

Hunter has since retired from The Washington Post but remains active as a novelist. He has written more than 20 books, including several New York Times bestsellers.
