Neil Golden began his relationship with Northwestern in 1979 having attended as an undergraduate student and graduated in 1983. While he has spoken at Medill and Kellogg periodically since 2007, he formally joined the Medill faculty in 2014.
Golden is a business leader who has recently founded Tailgater Concierge, a new company focused on making it easier to enjoy live events with family and friends by providing everything needed for a great tailgate experience. He also is a member of the Advisory Board for Home Partners of America, serves as a Management Advisor for Revenue Management Solutions, and works with Bain Capital as a Marketing Advisor to its portfolio companies.
Prior to this, Golden enjoyed a 24 year career with McDonald's; his most recent position was Chief Marketing Officer at McDonald's USA for six years from November 2007 - November 2013. In this role, he reported directly to President of McDonalds USA and had management oversight that encompassed a 230-member cross-functional team and 12 national agencies, partnerships with 2.6K owner operators, and $1.4B+ marketing budget and $950M media spend.
He has a track record of success in driving strong revenue, profit, and market share results across diverse business environments -- and long history of Board engagement. Golden is masterful at changing business paradigms, creating clear and compelling vision, as well as inspiring and aligning diverse groups. He has earned a reputation as a customer advocate and pioneer in creating strong value propositions across multi-cultural, generational and economic segments. And, he is a sought-out subject mater expert in brand building, corporate image, multi-media and classic 4P marketing principles.
Importantly, he is a proud family man...happily married for 24 years with four (spirited) kids between the age of 15 and 22.
