Elizabeth  S.  Yamashita

Yamashita (MSJ59, PhD69) served as a Medill professor for 17 years. She was director of graduate studies in journalism from 1979 to 1980 and the chairwoman of the editorial department from 1975 to 1978.

Yamashita left Medill in 1980 to become chairwoman of the journalism school at Michigan State University. In 1982 she was named director of the University of Oklahoma's Herbert School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She died in 1994.
