For nearly 10 years, Medill has specialized in partnering journalism and engineering students to create technologies and solve problems in 21st Century media. In the Bay Area Immersion Experience, we continue our partnership with the McCormick School of Engineering by putting students in San Francisco for a quarter to learn from and contribute to the Bay Area’s entrepreneurial culture.
Bay Area Immersion Experience for Journalists and Engineers
As technology and media become increasingly intertwined, Northwestern University is preparing its students to thrive at the intersection.
The Bay Area Immersion Experience sends 24 students — 12 from the Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications and 12 from the McCormick School of Engineering— to San Francisco for the winter quarter.
Based in the new Northwestern educational space at 44 Montgomery St. in downtown San Francisco, the program takes advantage of the region’s booming tech, media, and startup scene. Students are challenged to learn from and contribute to the Bay Area’s entrepreneurial culture through a customized immersion experience.
