Though Medill IMC taught her important lessons about analytics and marketing strategies, that wasn’t the most valuable part of her education. “Medill IMC helped me become a more polished professional and trained me how to think,” she says. Every day on the job, she is tasked with identifying and analyzing problems, and then she must find the resources to solve them. She credits Medill IMC for giving her the framework to problem-solve. The program teaches you “to be a confident professional and do more than you think you can do.”
One of the most memorable experiences was going to Shanghai as part of Medill IMC’s Global Residency program and working on a project for Yum! Brands. It was a unique quarter that allowed her to apply what she had learned in class with realworld business practices, she says. Cheng, who is originally from Taiwan, also enjoyed collaborating with a team of classmates from all over the world “who thought differently.”
