Scott Becher (BSJ85, MSJ87) has spent his career in sponsorship marketing, including 16 years as founder of his own national agency—Sports & Sponsorships. Becher's first job after completing his master’s degree was as a producer and director at NFL Films. Sports has played a big role in Becher's career. He was a founding partner of SportsTalk 790 The Ticket, a leading sports radio station in South Florida that lauched the national careers of three show hosts: Dan Le Batard, Jorge Sedano and Jon Sciambi. They are now working for ESPN.
Becher joined Zimmerman Advertising in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 2012 as executive vice president. A year later, he helped launch the sports and entertainment division of the agency—Z Sports & Entertainment. As managing director, some of his clients include Dunkin’ Donuts, Party City, Papa John’s and hhgregg.
Along with maintaining close relationships (and a business partnership) with fellow alumni over the years, Becher credits Medill for giving him invaluable skills he’s used and built on over the years. "
"Medill, for me, was all about challenging the status quo and building life-long relationships along the way,” Becher says. “As an undergrad I learned the importance of telling a story with insights that identified the rational but evoked the emotional. In grad school, marketing lessons centered around finding new ways to market comparable brands—a lesson in understanding product differentiation that is timeless.”
