Wes Meltzer (BSJ06) has been director of communications for the Westminster Communities of Florida since December of 2012. Meltzer oversees marketing and communications for Westminster—Florida's largest not-for-profit provider of senior housing and services.
Meltzer oversees the complete marketing and public relations strategy for both external and internal communications and acts as the creative director for marketing and sales collateral, and he works with a team of sales staff, agencies and consultants. Meltzer is responsible for sustaining and growing the Westminster brand and its 19 other individual communities.
Meltzer was previously the Information Design Editor at the Orlando Sentinel. His team was responsible for presentation, content and innovation in print and online, including art directing the front page as well as special projects like a series of award-winning special interactive graphics for the 2010 Census and the 2012 elections. Meltzer started at the Sentinel as an intern and worked his way up to management before deciding to try something different and moving into the non-profit sector.
Meltzer has been recognized with awards from the Society for News Design, the Florida Society of News Editors and the Florida Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, as well as a series of in-house and corporate awards: Designer of the Year, Innovation Award, Legendary Service Award.
In his spare time Meltzer enjoys biking. Last fall he achieved a lifelong goal—biking the 335 miles from Washington, D.C., to Pittsburgh via the C&O Canal Trail and the Great Allegheny Passage.
