INTERACTIVE/MULTIMEDIA JOURNALISM
Medill at Northwestern University seeks applications for a faculty member in interactive/multimedia journalism with expertise in producing digital content and knowledge of front- and back-end programming and Web development skills, for its graduate and undergraduate programs.
We seek candidates who can teach how to employ interactive techniques appropriately and effectively in gathering and presenting journalistic news and information on digital platforms. They will also have a record of original theoretical or applied research or innovative creative work and will be expected to contribute thought leadership to the academy and the professions.
Candidates will have strong experience and the capacity to teach in two or more of the following areas:
• Informational graphics, data programming, and data visualization for the Web
• Interactive content production, especially Flash/ActionScript, JavaScript and HTML5
• Contemporary design practices (HTML/CSS) for Web, mobile and tablet platforms
• Interactive (Web/mobile) and interface design
• Web applications (including database integration and tools such as Python/Django or Ruby/Rails)
• User experience design and usability testing
This is a clinical or tenured/tenure track position. Both professionals and academics can earn tenure at Medill. Global interest and/or experience is a significant plus.
