Sandor Mack Kolkey

Adjunct Lecturer

Sandy Kolkey has spent the past 31 years in marketing communications on both the agency and client sides of the business.  He has domestic and global experience, B2B and B2C, and has worked across categories including packaged goods, health care, pharmaceuticals, financial services, professional sports, quick service restaurants, Aerospace and media. He joined the Medill faculty in 2015 as an Adjunct Lecturer, teaching IMC 463 Brand Communications Decisions.

Kolkey’s tenure includes 18 years at Leo Burnett, most recently as Executive Vice President, Brand Agency Lead, running a global category for Procter and Gamble -one of the agency’s largest businesses.  He has also served as President of the New York office for DraftFCB and before that ran large accounts for both Leo Burnett and FCB, including the above mentioned plus Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, Diner’s Club International, MoneyGram International and The Chicago Cubs. Kolkey prides himself in being a brand builder-working with brands like Kellogg’s, Boeing, Procter and Gamble, Dow Chemical ,Diageo, Walgreens and Diner’s Club.  

He spent more than six years working and living overseas with assignments in both Hong Kong and Australia.  In these roles, he was responsible for marketing communications efforts in nine countries across Asia-Pacific and helped to launch Kellogg cereal plants and branding efforts in China, Thailand and Vietnam.

On the client side, his roles include Senior Vice President, Brand Management and Advertising for Discover Financial Services, Director of Marketing for Kellogg’s Australia and his current position as Chief Marketing Officer of Turtle Wax, Inc.

He has served on the Board of the Advertising Research Foundation and has won a gold Effie for advertising effectiveness as well as a Clio.

He is a frequent lecturer on global brand building and brand strategy and has also been a featured speaker at The Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, DePaul University and Columbia College.


Sandy is a devoted Northwestern alumni, with a BA in Economics (WCAS83) and a Master of Management (MM89) from Kellogg.  He was a three-year letter winner on the Varsity Men’s Soccer team and is still trying to convince the coach that has one more year of eligibility.
