Journalism Internship Guide

The Journalism Internship Guide is stored in our career database, Medillink.  To access the guide, log in to Medillink with your NetID and password.  Click on "documents" in the navigation bar, then on the "document library" tab.  Search for the file named "Journalism Internship Guide," click on it, and save the spreadsheet to your computer.

The Internship Guide is updated quarterly, so please check the document library to make sure you have the most current version.  The last update is displayed in the top left corner of the spreadsheet.

Magazines and newspapers typically start recruiting for summer internships during the previous fall, with deadlines for resume submission as early as the middle of October.  Less competitive fall, winter, and spring internships often recruit throughout the year.

Some tips for using the guide:

1. Switching between the tabs at the bottom of the page will display Newspaper, Magazine, Broadcast, or Other journalism opportunities.
2. Scroll to the right of the page to see what is needed to apply, to whom the information should be sent, and a website link for further information.
3. Filter the list by clicking on any of the drop-down boxes at the top of the columns and selecting the item you would like to see.  You can filter by city, state, due date, or any of the other columns, and can combine more than one filter to fit your needs.

If you have questions about or additions to this database, please email medillcareerservices@northwestern.edu and make sure “Internships” is part of the subject line.
