Undergraduate Journalism

Medill has a long-standing reputation for journalism excellence. As the media industry undergoes unprecedented change, Medill leads the way. We train a new generation of multimedia journalists and communicators who will not only thrive in this landscape but also help shape it. Alumni work as social media managers, mobile journalists and account executives for public relations firms.

Graduate Journalism

You know us as Medill, home to a premier graduate journalism program. Our students learn enduring professional skills and techniques for storytelling that are essential to contemporary journalism. The one-year program emphasizes real-world, hands-on experience, from working in the Chicago and Washington, D.C., newsrooms to reporting abroad for news organizations in the Global Residency Program.

Integrated Marketing Communications

Integrated Marketing Communications education was pioneered at Medill and we continue to lead innovation in the field. The school anchors its curriculum on a customer-centric, data-driven approach to marketing communications and offers a master’s degree in full-time, part-time and online formats as well as an undergraduate certificate.

Faculty & Staff

Medill faculty represent the highest levels of accomplishment in scholarship, journalism and global commerce. They are actively involved in mentoring students and conducting research to create knowledge. Our staff and administration comprise experienced professionals, many of whom are Medill alums.

Medill-Northwestern Journalism Institute

The Medill Northwestern Journalism Institute is a summer program for high school students. The Cherub Program, as it is also known, is much more than a journalism camp. High school students come to Northwestern during the summer for five weeks to immerse themselves in the media world. They study writing, reporting and editing for print, digital and broadcast platforms. They get to experience campus life in Evanston, and participate in additional enrichment opportunities that often lead to lifelong friendships.
