Kalyan Raman is a professor in the Medill IMC department and specializes in marketing mix optimization, resource allocation problems and optimal budgeting allocation.
Raman is also a professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences in the Fienberg School of Medicine, and is a visiting professor at the University of Münster, the Humboldt University of Berlin, the Free University of Berlin, Leipzig University, the University of Göttingen and is a visiting scholar at the International Monetary Fund inWashington D.C. He is also a member of the editorial board of the International Journalof Research in Marketing, Production and Operations Management, Open Journal of Statistics and the Journal of Telecommunications System and Management. In addition, Raman is an ad hoc reviewer for all the leading journals in marketing such as JMR, Management Science and Marketing Science.
Prior to joining Northwestern in 2008, Raman had worked at Loughborough University, the University of Michigan-Flint, the University of Florida, the AT&T Bell Laboratories and Auburn University. Raman has also taught in executive development MBA programs at Northwestern and other leading business schools in Europe and theUnited States. Raman is a recipient of the Dorothy Ann and Clarence L. Ver Steeg Distinguished Research Fellowship for his research in cerebrospinal (CSF) dynamics and media mixoptimization, and was featured in the “Excellence in Research” section of the 2013 Northwestern Annual Report. Raman was a finalist for the William F. O’Dell award in 2008 and 1999, and has presented his research at national and international conferencesin the United States, Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France,Belgium, Australia and India. He has also given talks at a number of leading universities all over Europe and the United Kingdom and at leading Fortune 100 companies in theUnited States.
