Northwestern Recreation

For those who live in or near Evanston, Northwestern Recreation is the place to go to play sports, exercise or engage in other physical-fitness activities and competitive games of skill.

Counseling and Psychological Services 

CAPS offers individual and group therapy, crisis intervention and psychiatric consultation free of charge to all full-time undergraduate, graduate and professional Northwestern students, who are assured of strict confidentiality. Services are offered in both Evanston and Chicago.

University Police Department

The University Police Department is responsible for crime prevention, law enforcement, parking control, emergency response and policing of special events. It also administers all parking permits.

UP offers Rape Aggression Defense training; information on alcohol and drug awareness, emergency preparedness and bicycle security (including online bicycle registration); and safety and security tips.

Safe Ride

Safe Ride is a service provided to members of the Northwestern community as a safe and free alternative to walking alone after dark. Safe Ride operates from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. seven days a week during the academic year when classes are in session, excluding summer session.
