Medill offers a five-credit IMC certificate program in which students develop skills for understanding and analyzing consumers in traditional markets and evolving digital communities and networks.

Students must be accepted into the certificate program through an application process. Students may, however, take the two core classes before applying. Admission is conditional upon the successful completion of three prerequisite courses.

Core Classes (2 units) 

  • IMC 300: Consumer Insight
  • IMC 301: Introduction to Integrated Marketing Communications


Writing Classes 

(1 unit) Choose from the following: 

  • IMC 305: Message Strategy and Writing for Persuasion
  • IMC 306: Introduction to Public Relations Strategies and Tactics


Elective Classes
(2 units)
Choose from the following:

  • IMC 303: Market Research
  • IMC 304: Media/Message Delivery for Interactive Communications
  • IMC 307: Introduction to Direct, Database and E-Commerce Marketing & Interactive Marketing Communications
  • IMC 308: Marketing Models
  • IMC 309: Introduction to Entertainment & Gaming for Marketers
  • IMC 302: Senior Immersion Project (prerequisite: one of the above electives)
