Q: Can I use a Mac at Medill?

Medill is primarily a Windows PC operation. Faculty and staff primarily teach using the Windows operating system. The Windows operating system effectively interfaces with the Medill technology infrastructure. Technical instruction and documentation in multimedia-related classes will assume the use of PC-based hardware and software with limited support for Mac users. Some students use Macs, but it has proven to make the technology side of their Medill experience much more challenging. We strongly encourage you to purchase or bring a Windows laptop that meets the requirements above to use during your time at Medill.
