The Global Journalism Residency Program is an optional fifth quarter of study available to Medill graduate students.  

It provides the opportunity for students to build on their subject or technique specializations, working in carefully supervised residencies at one of the dozens of participating news organizations or publications in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Oceana and the Americas. 

More than 300 Medill graduate students have participated in the program, primarily at English-language organizations, since its inception in 1996.
