New York Times' Zach Wise Hired As Associate Professor

May 16, 2011

Zach Wise, award-winning multimedia producer for The New York Times, will join Medill faculty in June as an Associate Professor.

Wise has worked as a multimedia producer, designer, photojournalist and university instructor. At the Times since 2008, Wise produced compelling multimedia projects including "Choosing a President," which won a Peabody award and garnered an Emmy nomination. Previously, Wise was senior multimedia producer at the Las Vegas Sun, where he was part of a team whose reporting on the high rate of construction deaths on the Strip won Pulitzer and Scripps Howard Foundation national awards for public service for the newspaper.

Wise has an M.A. in Visual Communications from Ohio University and was a visiting professor there in 2006-07 where he taught classes that produced the award-winning "Soul of Athens" multimedia project. At Medill this summer, he will assist in teaching the Interactive Innovation Project to Master of Journalism students in their final quarter and prepare for teaching in the interactive publishing sequence in Fall.
