Investigate

In Medill’s Washington bureau, students focus on journalism as watchdog in the city where people eat and breathe politics. They learn how to report on public policy issues in ways that make important news relevant to the individual. And students investigate by asking tough questions to unveil the truth that lies beneath the surface. An elective devoted to investigative reporting is also available in Evanston.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The National Security Journalism Initiative aims to train journalists with the skills and knowledge necessary to accurately report on issues of defense and civil liberties.

BEYOND THE BORDER

Students in the 2010 News21 program created a website to report on Latinos, the largest, youngest and fastest growing minority population in the U.S.

PENTAGON TRAVEL

Washington students created a searchable database detailing the $26 million that private interests spent on military travel over a decade.
