Dual Degree Program

Medill partners with Hong Kong Baptist University, a top global institution, to offer a dual degree master’s program. Students earn a master’s degree at their respective university and then come to Medill to earn the Master of Science in Journalism degree. The duration of the program at Medill is four quarters, fulltime. Graduates are conferred two degrees by the two universities.

Hong Kong Baptist University LogoMedill and Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) offer a dual degree master’s program, which enables HKBU students to enroll in the Medill graduate journalism program upon successful completion of a master’s degree program at HKBU.

Application information for HKBU Students

Interested students should submit an application according to the following process and timeline:

Step Deadline
Once enrolled at HKBU, submit an initial application to HKBU* 15 January
Shortlisted students apply online for Medill MSJ admission via Medill’s website* 15 February
Receive result notification from Medill 31 March
Confirm offer of admission 30 April
Enroll at Medill Fall Quarter (September)
*Documents Required for Initial Application for HKBU and for Medill Admissions
  1. An application form;
  2. One-page personal statement outlining personal goals and research interests;
  3. TOEFL and IELTS report;
  4. Academic transcripts from all universities attended;
  5. Two letters of reference; and
  6. Medill application fee
