Medill announces $25,000 scholarship for the Technology and Business specialization

Graduate journalism program is one of eight Medill offers

A top student admitted to the Technology and Business graduate journalism specialization will receive a $25,000 “Dean’s Scholarship of Excellence” for the 2019-2020 school year. The award was announced today by Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications.

Medill’s Master of Science in Journalism program offers eight specializations, including the Technology and Business specialization. Students in the yearlong program spend two quarters in Chicago and two quarters in San Francisco. During their time in San Francisco, students work at the intersection of technology, business and media and have the opportunity to interact with leading companies in the Bay Area.

“Tech and business reporting is a booming field with a wealth of opportunities to build great careers, as we’ve seen many Medill alumni do,” said Charles Whitaker, Medill interim dean. “This Dean’s Scholarship of Excellence will honor a promising student who has a passion for this exciting and growing area.”

Those interested in the scholarship should complete their admission application for the graduate journalism program and indicate an interest in theTechnology and Business specialization. The winner will be informed of the award when he or she is admitted to Medill. Those interested should apply by Jan. 3. Classes for the specialization begin in September.
