Ashir Badami to lead Media Innovation and Content Strategy specialization in 2023 academic year

Over the next year and half, Badami will work closely with Professor Rich Gordon, who has directed Medill’s MSJ track in digital publishing for almost 23 years. Gordon plans to retire in 2024.

EVANSTON, ILL. -- Ashir Badami (MSJ06) will join Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications in January as a senior lecturer. Badami will teach graduate journalism students in the Media Innovation and Content Strategy specialization and lead the specialization starting in summer quarter.

Over the next year and half, Badami will work closely with Professor Rich Gordon, who has directed Medill’s MSJ track in digital publishing for almost 23 years. Gordon plans to retire in 2024.

Badami has experience in integrated marketing communications, with an emphasis in content strategy and design, product marketing and lifecycle marketing for high growth companies. Over the course of his career, Badami has worked in a variety of companies ranging from startups to large-scale enterprises leading content, digital strategy and marketing functions. He most recently served as the Vice President of Product Marketing and Community at UpKeep Technologies in Los Angeles.

Badami earned a graduate journalism degree from Medill in 2006. In addition, he has a master’s in human-computer interaction from Bentley University and a bachelor’s in religion from University of Rochester.

“Ashir’s background will serve students in our Media Innovation and Content Strategy specialization well,” said Medill Dean Charles Whitaker. “His own experience in Medill’s graduate journalism program will be valuable perspective for our students.
