J. Kent Planck

J. Kent Planck (BSJ65, MSJ66) is a member of the inaugural class of the Medill Hall of Achievement of 1997.

Planck retired in 1994 as AT&T's vice president of public relations after a 28-year career that began in 1965 as a public relations summer intern with the company's former Illinois Bell subsidiary.

He provided public relations direction for most of AT&T's business units, managed a nationwide field force in 40 cities, and directed management of the AT&T brand. He was also responsible for the company's corporate advertising program, including its highly successful "You Will" advertising campaign.

Since his retirement, Planck has been writing fiction and painting.
