Leonard A. C. Eiserer

Leonard A. C. Eiserer (MSJ39) is a member of the inaugural class of the Medill Hall of Achievement of 1997.

Eiserer was the founder, president, and publisher of Business Publishers Inc. Eiserer began his career as a reporter for Aviation Daily, which was published by American Aviation Publications in Washington, D.C. He served as the managing editor, editorial director, executive president and general manager of AAP's 18 publications until leaving in 1962 when the company was sold. Eiserer started BPI's Air/Water Pollution Report in 1963 as the first newsletter covering all aspects of environmental pollution on a worldwide basis.

Eiserer was the founding director of the Newsletter Publishers Association and was a member of the National Press Club and the Society of Professional Journalists since 1939. In 1995, he was inducted into the Newsletter Publishers Association’s Hall of Fame. He also served as the chairman of the Carol Jean Cancer Foundation Inc., established in memory of his daughter, Carol Jean, who died of brain cancer in 1986.

Eiserer died in 2007.
