Robert H. Wills

Robert H. Wills (BSJ49, MSJ50) was inducted into the Medill Hall of Achievement in 1997 and into the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Hall of Fame in 2001.

Those honors came in recognition of a distinguished newspaper career in Milwaukee.

Wills started in Milwaukee in 1951as a general assignment reporter on the Milwaukee Journal. When the Journal Company bought the Milwaukee Sentinel in 1962 from the Hearst Company, Wills was one of three editors chosen from the Milwaukee Journal staff to organize and develop the new Milwaukee Sentinel. Most of his journalism career was devoted to the Sentinel, where he served as editor for 16 years and city editor for 13 years.

In 1993, Mr. Wills retired as publisher of the Milwaukee Journal, vice-chairman of Journal-Sentinel Inc. and senior vice president of Journal Communications Inc.
