Robert H. Wills

Robert H. Wills (BSJ49, MSJ50) is a member of the inaugural class of the Medill Hall of Achievement of 1997.

In 1993, Wills retired as publisher of the Milwaukee Journal, vice-chairman of Journal-Sentinel Inc. and senior vice president of Journal Communications Inc. He was inducted into the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Hall of Fame in 2001, in recognition of a distinguished newspaper career in Milwaukee.

Wills started in Milwaukee in 1951 as a general assignment reporter on the Milwaukee Journal. When the Journal Company bought the Milwaukee Sentinel in 1962 from the Hearst Company, Wills was one of three editors chosen from the Milwaukee Journal staff to organize and develop the new Milwaukee Sentinel. Most of his journalism career was devoted to the Sentinel, where he served as editor for 16 years and city editor for 13 years.
