Robert L. Berenson

Robert L. Berenson (MSA62) is a member of the inaugural class of the Medill Hall of Achievement of 1997. 

Berenson retired as vice chairman and general manager of the Grey Global Group, which with more than $9 billion in annual billings and more than 10,000 employees in 90 countries around the world, ranked as one of the world's largest communications companies. Before becoming vice chairman, Berenson served as the company’s president, making him responsible for managing New York City’s largest advertising agency and its work for clients such as Kraft Foods, Procter & Gamble, Sprint and Hasbro. He began his 33-year journey with Grey’s in the management training program and within three years he had been named the youngest vice president in the company’s history.

Berenson is a former chairman of the board of the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Law Enforcement Foundation of New York. He holds bachelor’s degrees in journalism and marketing from Syracuse University, and he earned a master’s degree from Medill in 1962.
