Vice President of Public Relations and Communications, Upright

How did the IMC program help you get where you are today in your career?
Joining the IMC program was my way of making an investment in myself and a commitment to my career. The program allowed me to indulge my interests in communications and marketing while teaching me valuable skills that allowed me to quickly advance in my field. And even though the program was online, I made personal connections with my fellow students who live around the globe.

What skills did the IMC program give you to move forward in your career?
Prior to joining the program, I saw my role as a communicator as being somewhat limited. After completing the program, I have the skills and the confidence to use communications to solve challenging business problems. To be an effective communicator, it's essential to always understand "why." Acquiring skills in finance, strategy, statistics and persuasive messaging (just to name a few) have truly given me the confidence to raise my hand, seek answers and challenge the status quo.

What was one of your favorite parts of your IMC experience?
Graduation. As silly as that sounds, I cried tears of joy when I walked on stage to accept my diploma. I dreamed of earning a degree from Northwestern. I never thought it would happen as a 38-year-old wife and mother of two. But the IMC program allowed me to make my dream a wonderful reality. I am so, so proud of my degree, and I wear my purple with pride.
