Elizabeth S. Yamashita

Elizabeth S. Yamashita (MSJ59, Ph.D.69) was a member of the inaugural class of the Medill Hall of Achievement in 1997.

She served as a Medill professor for 17 years. She was director of graduate studies in journalism from 1979 to 1980 and the chairwoman of the editorial department from 1975 to 1978.

Yamashita left Medill in 1980 to become chairwoman of the journalism school at Michigan State University. In 1982 she was named the director of the University of Oklahoma's Herbert School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Yamashita died in 1994.
