Kevin Blackistone

Kevin Blackistone (BSJ81) was inducted into the Medill Hall of Achievement in 2018.

He is a well-known contributor to ESPN’s “Around the Horn,” a columnist at The Washington Post and a Professor of Practice at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland.

In addition to his work on “Around the Horn,” Blackistone appears on National Public Radio and has written several academic journal articles on diversity in sports media. He started his illustrious sports journalism career in 1990 at the Dallas Morning News, then began writing for AOL FanHouse. Before transitioning to sports, he was reported on social and economic issues for the Morning News, The Chicago Reporter, and The Boston Globe.

Blackistone co-authored “A Gift for Ron” with former NFL star Everson Walls in 2009. He has received awards from the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors, Chicago Newspaper Guild and the National Association of Black Journalists, among others.
