Michael Conway

Michael Conway (BSJ68) is a member of the inaugural class of the Medill Hall of Achievement of 1997.

Conway is a retired partner at the national law firm Foley & Lardner LLP. He graduated from Yale Law School in 1973. Aside from service in 1974 as counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary in the Impeachment Inquiry of President Richard M. Nixon, Conway practiced law in Illinois, retiring from Foley & Lardner LLP in April 2014.

From 1991, he has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in the field of First Amendment law. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. During his legal career, Conway represented journalists and media organizations including Dow Jones & Company, Inc., The New York Times, ABC, Chicago Tribune, N.Y. Daily News, “This American Life” and the Small Newspaper Group in connection with libel, access, and First Amendment issues.
