Richard Harris

Richard Harris (BSJ76) is a member of the Medill Hall of Achievement.

Harris is an editorial producer with Hearst television’s “Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien.” He has had a long career as a broadcast producer, writer, and anchor.

Harris served as senior producer for ABC News "Nightline," from 1987 to 2005. In August 2003, the "Nightline" production unit added "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" to its family and Harris became senior broadcast producer for that Sunday ABC News program.

Harris is the recipient of 13 Emmy awards for a variety of "Nightline" broadcasts, including coverage of South Africa, the Gulf War and the historic 1988 series of broadcasts originating from Jerusalem, "Nightline in the Holy Land," for which he also received a Columbia DuPont Award.
