Steve Bell

Steve Bell (MSJ63) was a member of the Medill Hall of Achievement.

He was an endowed chair emeritus in telecommunications at Ball State University. He served as a news correspondent for ABC News from 1967 to 1986. His assignments included national political campaigns and conventions, war correspondent in Vietnam and Cambodia, Hong Kong bureau chief and White House correspondent.

Bell also anchored the news segments of ABC’s “World News This Morning” and “Good Morning America” for more than a decade. Bell received several Emmy awards, an Overseas Press Club Award and a Headliner’s Award. He was inducted into the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame in 2004 and retired from Ball State in 2007. 

Bell died in 2019 at age 83.
