Thomas H. Carey

Tom Carey (MSA67) is a member of the inaugural class of the Medill Hall of Achievement of 1997.

Carey is the former executive vice president of Omnicom Group Inc. His responsibilities included the strategic development, networking, resourcing and integration of Omnicom companies for the benefit of major clients of the group, such as Daimler Chrysler, Mars, PepsiCo, and others. He also participated in evaluation of strategic acquisitions for the company.

Carey served as the co-chief executive officer of BBDO New York, the headquarters agency of BBDO Worldwide, one of the world’s largest advertising networks. Before joining BBDO, Carey worked in account and general agency management at D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles Inc., most recently as executive vice president of the international division. From 1985 to 1989, he served as managing director of DMB&B’s New York office.

Carey holds a bachelor’s degree from Holy Cross College and he earned his master’s degree from Medill in 1967.
