Hank Klibanoff

After graduating from Medill, Hank Klibanoff (MSJ73) worked at a number of publications, including The Boston Globe and The Philadelphia Inquirer, where he worked for more than 20 years. Klibanoff later became managing editor at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

While he was at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Klibanoff was awarded the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for history. Klibanoff shared the award with Gene Roberts, with whom he co-wrote the book, The Race Beat. The book examines the role the American press played in the civil rights movement.

Klibanoff has also served as managing editor of the Civil Rights Cold Case Project and director of Emory University’s journalism program.
