Madison Hopkins

Madison Hopkins (MSJ16) won the 2022 Pulitzer Prize in Local Reporting along with Cecilia Reyes from the Chicago Tribune. The reporters led a yearlong investigation into fatal fires in Chicago that the Pulitzer jury described as "a piercing examination of the city's long history of failed building- and fire-safety code enforcement, which let scofflaw landlords commit serious violations that resulted in dozens of unnecessary deaths." Hopkins joined the Better Government Association in 2016 after receiving her master's degree from Medill.
