Megan Fan Munce

Megan Fan Munce is a reporter on the San Francisco Chronicle's climate team. She covers California's years-long home insurance crisis as well as utilities and the rise of data centers. Her coverage of the insurance industry following the 2025 Los Angeles County wildfires won the 2026 Pulitzer Prize in Explanatory Reporting as well as top honors from IRE, SABEW and SPJ. Munce first joined the San Francisco Chronicle as part of the two-year Hearst Journalism Fellowship, spending her first year of the program at the Houston Chronicle. She grew up in the Bay Area before earning both her bachelor's and master's degrees from Northwestern University’s Medill School.
