Amy Tara Koch is a journalist and author reporting on travel, food, and style. She is a longtime contributor to The New York Times and also writes for The Telegraph, The Wall Street Journal, Architectural Digest, Bon Appetit, Ski Magazine, Washington Post, Travel + Leisure, Vogue, The Daily Beast, Food & Wine, and Conde Nast Traveler. She has served as an expert on many panels and podcasts, including The New York Times Travel Show and the American Express Shaping Insights program. This December, she will be a writer-in-residence at the Hemingway House in Ketchum, Idaho.
Koch began her writing career in style, working at Paper Magazine and then Conde Nast’s (now defunct) Mademoiselle Magazine. She served as Director of Marketing and PR for fashion brand BCBG Max Azria and then spent years consulting for brands like Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Van Cleef & Arpels, American Eagle Outfitters, Allure Magazine, and Columbia Records. After marrying and moving to Chicago in 2000, she began writing for the Chicago Tribune, and began a column called Stylephile which ran for 10 years. That same decade, she was an on-air style reporter for NBC/WMAQ, covering fashion and beauty trends. Koch also spent time as a family travel expert and Chicago-based expert for Travel + Leisure magazine.
In 2010, Koch’s maternity fashion book Bump It Up: Transform Your Pregnancy Into The Ultimate Style Statement (Random House) was touted by Glamour, T Magazine, and Access Hollywood as the must-read pregnancy style bible.
