Adjunct Lecturer

Colin Boyle is an adjunct instructor at the Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications.

After graduating from Medill with a bachelor's and master's degree in journalism in 2020 and a minor in Spanish language, Boyle joined the nonprofit newsroom Block Club Chicago, where he currently covers his hometown through photojournalism and reporting across the city's vast and vibrant communities.

Before his time with Block Club, Boyle has worked with The Chicago Sun-Times, Argentina's most-read Spanish newspaper – Infobae, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and the Indianapolis Star. He also has worked with local nonprofit My Block, My Hood, My City as a contract documentary videographer throughout the 2020 pandemic. His work has been published in the New York Times and various other news outlets through the Associated Press and USA Today.

Boyle's passion for photography is drawn from his mother and grandfather. His mother is an internationally published theater and editorial photographer, and his grandfather was an avid nature documentarian. Boyle grew up in the city of Chicago, and his love for community reporting is deeply rooted in the beautiful and resilient people whom he is lucky to call his neighbors.
