Lecturer
Elise De Los Santos is a lecturer at Medill and the editor/publisher of Medill Reports. She teaches undergraduate and graduate classes on reporting and writing, and advises Journalism Residency students and the Asian American Student Journalists group.
Prior to joining the faculty full-time in 2021, she worked in various editing roles at the Chicago Tribune. She started out as a copy editor at RedEye, the Tribune’s former publication geared toward millennials, and rose to executive editor. In 2017, she joined the Chicago Tribune copy desk and edited metro, investigative, politics and breaking news stories for online and print publication, eventually becoming the desk's night editor. She occasionally wrote for the Tribune’s “Flashback” section, revisiting the paper’s coverage of historical events.
