Elise De Los Santos is a lecturer at Medill and the editor of Medill Reports. She teaches undergraduate and graduate classes on reporting and writing.

Prior to joining the faculty full-time in 2021, she worked in various editing roles at the Chicago Tribune. She started out as a copy editor at RedEye, the Tribune’s former publication geared toward millennials, and rose to executive editor. In 2017, she joined the Chicago Tribune copy desk and edited metro, investigative, politics and breaking news stories for online and print publication. She was the lead copy editor on several high-profile stories, including “Betrayed,” a 2018 investigative series on sex abuse at Chicago Public Schools, and the follow-up coverage on the 2019 mass shooting in Aurora, Illinois. She occasionally wrote for the Tribune’s “Flashback” section, revisiting the paper’s coverage of historical events. While at the Tribune, she was an adjunct lecturer at Medill.
