Elise De Los Santos


Elise De Los Santos is an adjunct lecturer at Medill. She has taught Journalism Methods in the graduate curriculum and Reporting and Writing in the undergraduate curriculum.

De Los Santos is a content editor at the Chicago Tribune. As a member of the Tribune’s copy desk, she edits metro, investigative, politics and breaking news stories for online and print publication. She has been the lead copy editor on several high-profile stories, including “Betrayed,” a 2018 investigative series on sex abuse at Chicago Public Schools, and the follow-up coverage on the 2019 mass shooting in Aurora, Illinois. She also assists the audience team on weekends, producing breaking national stories, writing social media posts and helping monitor the Tribune’s homepage.

Previously, she was the executive editor of RedEye, where she also wrote about books and other entertainment-related features. She has won two Chicago Tribune Jones-Beck awards, in 2015 and 2018.


De Los Santos graduated from Medill with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, and also majored in history and English literature.
