
Srikant Gokhale
Adjunct Lecturer
Gokhale has over three decades of executive experience in emerging markets, having led major retail companies in China, India and the Middle East. Throughout his career, he has played pivotal roles in driving business transformations, fostering innovation and building customer-centric organizations.
Gokhale served as the group CEO of Landmark Group, the largest retailer in the Middle East and Africa, where he successfully led a strategic turnaround to create a value-driven organization that is resilient and well-prepared for the digital era. As the CEO of Emax, the largest consumer electronics retailer in the region, he guided another successful strategic turnaround.
Gokhale has held several key leadership positions, including CEO of Zee Entertainment for the Asia Pacific region and CEO of The Mobile Store, which is India’s largest mobile retailer. As the managing director of Xcite-Alghanim Industries, he was instrumental in pioneering large-format electronics stores in both India and the Middle East, where he introduced innovative store designs and enhanced customer experiences. During his time at Alghanim Industries, he also established a sourcing operation in China, visiting over 1,000 companies across 40 cities to successfully create the ‘Wansa’ as the largest private label for the Middle Eastern market.
Gokhale has pursued an academic journey alongside his corporate career, for over 12 years. His primary research focus is on the intersection of retail and emerging markets. Currently, he serves as a lecturer in marketing at Berkeley Haas, where he received the prestigious Club 6 award for his course, "Doing Business in Emerging Markets," in Fall 2023. Since Fall 2022, he has been teaching an international marketing module in the core first-year MBA program at Berkeley Haas. Additionally, Srikant is an adjunct professor of marketing at IIM Udaipur. He previously held the role of adjunct professor at IIM Ahmedabad and was recognized as Asia’s Best Marketing Professor by the World Brand Congress and CMO Asia Council in Singapore.
Gokhale's research on international expansion by retailers and e-commerce has been presented at Georgetown University and international conferences. His work also includes over thirty case studies on leading U.S. retailers and frequent blog publications. In 2010, he was invited to speak on a global retail panel at CES Las Vegas, joining CEOs from Best Buy, Sony and Walmart to offer insights on the future of retail.
