Will Sonheim

Adjunct Lecturer

Will Sonheim is an adjunct lecturer with a background in filmmaking, writing for the screen and stage, and performance.

Beginning in 2015, Sonheim worked in-house with The Neo-Futurists to create short experimental films and promotional content for the theater and their flagship show "The Infinite Wrench." An avid participant in the Chicago Live Lit and performance scene, he has performed at Steppenwolf, iO, The Neo-Futurists, the Annoyance, Logan Square Improv and the Hideout. His writing has been featured and performed at WRITE CLUB, The Physical Theatre Festival, The Skewer, and WBEZ's Mortified. As a filmmaker, Sonheim has edited for award winning web-series, music videos, and short films, garnering a New York Times Critic's Pick in late 2020 for his work on "45 Plays for America’s First Ladies.''

In 2019, Sonheim began working at Music Box Films, learning the in's and out's of independent film distribution, before transitioning in 2021 to a production role as the assistant to creator Abby McEnany on her Showtime series "Work in Progress" in 2021. Currently, Sonheim is in development for an original comedy TV pilot (co-written with Ethan Stoller and executive produced by Lilly Wachowski) and continues to serve as the video editing instructor for Northwestern's The Graduate School's 10-week program research communication fellowship program, RCTP (Research Communication Training Program).
