Meet Medill

The best way to learn about our undergraduate journalism program is to interact with our students, faculty and staff. Visit us in Evanston to see our students in action. We hope to see you soon.

Visit campus

NOTE: Based on University guidelines in response to nationwide COVID-19 developments, the Northwestern Office of Undergraduate Admissions has made the difficult decision to join many other colleges in canceling all tours, information sessions and large gatherings for prospective students. These events are canceled at Northwestern and Medill until further notice. The University be monitoring the situation in the coming weeks to make decisions about future visit options.

Visiting Northwestern's campus in Evanston is one of the best ways to learn about the university, Medill and the Evanston and Chicago communities. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of a campus visit to get a distinct feel for what your time at Medill would be like.

We offer a variety of ways for you to learn more about living and learning here.

Information session and campus tour

Many visitors start their visit with this option, which includes an overview of the university by an admissions counselor and a student-led tour of campus.

Medill-specific session

We host weekly information sessions to help you learn about what makes Medill unique and a leader in journalism education.

Medill information sessions are held in McCormick Foundation Center (MFC), 1870 Campus Drive. MFC is located near the Segal Visitors Center, the starting point for Northwestern information sessions and campus tours.

Shadow a student

Interested in learning first-hand about the Medill student experience? Shadow a current student for half a day to visit a class, learn about student activities and experiences, and ask questions about life at Medill.

To schedule a time to shadow a student, please contact Associate Director of Student Life Daniel MacKenzie.

Attending a journalism class, having lunch with students and listening to a Medill information session helped me to be able to picture myself as a Wildcat."Prospective Medill student
