Associate Brand Manager - Campbell's Company, Rao's Homemade

Tell us about your career path. How did you get where you are today?
After graduation, I worked at OMD in Chicago as an Associate, Integrated Media Planner. I assisted state recruiters in the coordination and execution of media plans for the U.S. Army, Local National Guard account. In this role, I was the lead for the Midwest and Central South and became well versed in omnichannel strategies and budgeting tactics. I learned a lot during my time at OMD but was ultimately eager to have more creative control, so I decided to transition to an in-house marketing role. Today, I am an Associate, Brand Manager at Campbell’s for Rao’s Homemade in the New York Metropolitan area.
How did the Medill Integrated Marketing Communications Full Time program prepare you for your career?
The fact that I was able to seamlessly transition from agency to in-house work speaks to IMC’s unique curriculum. The program equips students with the breadth of knowledge and real-world experience necessary to be successful in any marketing profession.
What is a class or experience that stick out in your mind and why?
Many of my Medill experiences are memorable, so it is hard to choose just one! However, my trip to London with the Global Perspectives course was really special. During this immersive experience, I was able to visit different companies and network with people who have a global impact on the marketing industry.
How has Medill Career Services helped you?
Medill Career Services held a number of info sessions and networking events that allowed me to meet people in the industry and understand the day to day of my next role. In addition, career services helped me tailor my resume, portfolio and cover letters.
What advice would you give to someone considering the Medill Integrated Marketing Communications Full Time program?
Take a leap of faith. If you have the opportunity to move to a new city and build a life for yourself, do it! In 2021, I packed my bags and moved to Chicago. I didn’t know a soul. Three years later, I left with a master’s degree, some great work experience, a group of friends who became family and another place that I can call home.
