What are your main responsibilities in your current role?

The responsibilities of my role are constantly shifting, which might be one of my favorite aspects of this job. At the highest-level, I’m working across teams to advise and deliver growth strategies (i.e., marketing, product, positioning, segmentation), and developing ways to achieve those project objectives with tailored solutions.

How did the Medill Integrated Marketing Communications Full Time program prepare you for your career?

The IMC program prepared me in ways I could not have imagined. The vigor of the courses allowed me to develop skillsets that expand beyond marketing roles, and the diversity of challenges help me to remain flexible as I tackle new and different challenges. I am constantly required to practice using a blend of data-driven analysis, consumer insights, and creative thinking to deliver growth strategies to a variety of clients. The fundamental skills required of my current role was nurtured during my time in IMC.

What did you do during Immersion Quarter?

I was part of a data-driven loyalty strategy project for Anheuser-Busch during Immersion Quarter. It was an incredible experience to be working with world-class brand strategists within a complex industry, applying our in-class learnings in a real-life application.

What is a class or experience that stick out in your mind and why

The concepts and frameworks we learned in Consumer Value Innovation taught by Jonathan Copulsky stand out to me.

How has Medill Career Services helped you?

I leaned on the network of alumni the Medill Career Services is connected with during my job search process. Talking to IMC alumni who leveraged their degree, course work and past experiences to pursue a broad range of career paths allowed me to explore options beyond what I thought was “possible”.

What other types of master’s programs did you consider?

I had considered master’s programs that were more specialized in data analytics and behavioral sciences. I ended up choosing Medill’s IMC program as I knew I wanted to focus on both the art and science with the application of modern business strategies.

What advice would you give to someone considering the Medill Integrated Marketing Communications Full Time program?

Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself and try new things! You’ll never know what you like and don’t like, what you’re good at and not good without challenging yourself. The IMC program is an incredible opportunity to explore new things in a controlled and guided environment. The faculty and peers are vetted for this experience!
